Dumping again!!
Our local weather guy is reporting only 21" this past weekend, although I was thinking more along the lines of 24-26. Took some early morning stormy runs on Saturday AM with a very accomplished local photog (Ludovic Moore) and quickly discovered that the snow was not of the light and fluffy variety but, boy did it ever pile up. Check out some of the pics by clicking here!
Sitting at my desk, looking at the forecast, and it is predicting up to 21" additional over the next 24 hours. As of this morning, our season total is approaching 160"! I'm preaching to the choir, but the wintersports conditions are the best I've seen in many a year! Everything (and I mean everything!) is open and in fantastic shape. There is still good lodging availability for the Presidents Day weekend so get on the phone, make arrangements, throw your stuff in the car and head to the Valley!
The Allegheny Highland Trail is a 42 mile rail/trail that runs between Thomas, down through the Blackwater Canyon, along the Blackfork River, through Parsons and on to Elkins. We have put the mountainbikes away and broken out the cross country skis for the Highlands Trail Foundation's annual cross country ski event. Participants will meet at the Montrose, WV "station", ski to the Pheasant Mountain section and back to Montrose for hot chocolate! Great exercise in a beautiful outdoor setting. Need more information? Call the Foundation at 304-637-7505.
