Tucker County, WV is a four-season, high-mountain paradise with more miles of trail than road, more designated wilderness areas than traffic lights, more room to roam and more adventure than you can shake a ski pole at. From the rugged beauty of the Blackwater Canyon to the pristine back country of the Dolly Sods wilderness, it's a world untouched, unhurried and unrivaled.
White Grass has been offering cross country skiing, snowshoeing and telemarking for more than 30 years. They take pride in maintaining their 50 kilometers of trail system. They specialize in snow farming and offer 25-30 kilometers of groomed trails. Lessons are available for all levels and specialties. Rentals are available for all types of cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Check out their event schedule for guided cross country tours and snowshoeing, along with full moon night tours. Stop in their café while you're there and you’ll enjoy a delicious meal on the mountain.

Snow Tubing is a great winter activity for all ages. The Snow Tubing Park is one of the most popular places at Canaan Valley Resort. You can tube daily at any of the 2-hour sessions.
Ice Skating takes place in a covered, outdoor arena which includes an outdoor fireplace. The rink is open every day and has skates available for rent.
Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing is available on any of the 30 kilometers of marked, un-groomed trails. Cross Country skis and snowshoes for adults and children are available for rent at the Ice Skating Rink.
During the winter months the park offers over ten miles of trails for the beginner to the experienced cross country skier. Many of the trails are groomed and maintained specifically for XC skiing. A full service XC ski center offers ski lessons and equipment rental.
Looking for a new sledding experience? The sledding hill at the park is one-quarter mile long, well-groomed and maintained for sledding specifically. This hill also offers a one-of-a-kind tow rope to the top, available on weekends. Sleds are available for rent at the XC ski center.
The Sled Run & Cross Country Ski Center are open from mid-December through March 15th.

Looking for a unique way to tour Canaan Valley in the winter? Consider enjoying the views (and keeping your feet warm and dry) on horseback. Mountain Trail Rides and Timberline Stables are open year-round for horseback rides. For winter rides, reservations are required and are weather permitting.
