After a (brief) respite from the winter pounding the Valley has experienced, the snow has returned and so has the cold.  Both areas are busy with snowmaking to pile it back up!!  My 16 readers might be interested to know that Saturday the 23rd was a wonderful, sunny day with a soft groomed prior to the wet winter precipitation event that we experienced on Sunday.

The totals to date: January '10...60";  Season to date 120"!!

Let's compare, shall we?? 

Wintergreen 38" for the season, WISP 87.5 for the season, 24.4" to date at Massanutten, and Whitetail averages only 40" of natural each year.

Let's not forget the summit elevation/vertical drop data.  Timberline has 1,000' vertical over the entire mountain, not just a few trails, and the summit is at 4,268.  Canaan Valley Resort (only 2 miles from Timberline) sports an 850' vertical starting at 4,280!

Do the research and you will agree...The choice is clear, drive just a little longer to experience the region's REAL mountains!!  There is still plenty of lodging options available for the President's Day Holiday!
